Mar Vista Canopy
As the suburban sprawl of the greater Los Angeles area becomes unmanageable new solutions in density must be explored. A landscape which is currently dominated by low rise construction will have to densify in order to meet residential and commercial demands.
The Mar Vista Canopy is a proposal for a new multi-family housing complex in the historic Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Where Gregory Ain once sought out to solve issues of equitable and communal living with single family homes this project seeks to solve a contemporary density crisis for a more contemporary time.
With single, two and three bedroom units the Mar Vista Canopy offers a variety of living options for individuals, and families, at the different stages of life. Focusing on an external mode of circulation and central park spaces, the complex embraces the Californian style of outdoor living. In addition to housing there are spaces on the ground floor of the proposal dedicated to a commercial experience in order to bring much needed amenities such as day care, grocers, and gyms to the residents of the complex.
This is the Mar Vista Canopy.
